Jabari McDonald is a screenwriter and photographer from Long Beach, CA. Most recently he was a staff writer on Netflix’s UNACCUSTOMED EARTH. Prior to that he wrote on EMPEROR OF OCEAN PARK (MGM+). He has developed with Lionsgate, New York Times, and Harpo. Jabari participated in the 2021 Outfest Screenwriting Lab with his pilot BLACK MUD and the 2019 New York Stage & Film Filmmaker Workshop with his pilot [UN]SUPERVISED.
Short films he has produced have screened at Austin Film Festival, CineQuest Film Festival, RiverRun Int’l Film Festival, Salento Int’l Film Festival, Afrikana Film Festival, Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, Pasadena Int’l Film Festival, and the Katra Film Series.
He holds an M.F.A. in Film from Columbia University, a B.A. in Film & Media Studies from UC Irvine.
